Liz did something not long ago with a story challenge/story starters. Anyway, I've always thought such things were great fun, and I wondered if anyone would like to donate a story starter for me, because I'd like to write a few stories of 2,000 words or less, and I thought it would be nice to have people throw out random ideas or phrases for them. So if anyone is interested, please contribute! Comment here. You can give me a first sentence, a word, a phrase or just something (a noun; a subject and a verb) to write a story about.

And, as I'm all about sharing and sharing alike, I guess I will give story starters (or poem starters, who am I to say?) of my own for your possible usage. (Maybe I'll use them myself too...)

Sentence: "The stars were rushing towards them."

Word: "Bitterly."

Noun/verb idea: A radio plays something unexpected.

Use as you see fit, or don't use at all!

Thank you very much! I like them. I will think them over and incorporate them in the future.

Sure! Hmm, which kind of story starter did you want? Sentence, verb, noun, idea... Any preferences? Or do I have carte blanche?

Oh yes, and there is only one condition-- that you give me a story starter in exchange. :) It can be anything!

Hmm, well how about this one?

"Surely, you have heard of an outdoor dinner party, love?"

"Of course - old fuzzy - but never one with directions quite this odd."

I'm already intrigued. I hope it stirs some interest for you.

You have carte blanche for mine, of course

Hahaha, I like this starters! Very intriguing. I look forward to using it.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The following starter actually popped into my head immediately after you asked for one, but I kept second-guessing it, as well as trying to think of a better one. Anyway, here it is:

Forget Butch Cassidy. (To be used as dialogue or narration.)

Here's another one, just in case:

The oratorio droned on, and he was growing tired of singing.

I don't know where that came from. Then again, I don't know where the first one came from either. :)

Oh, it's easy, thinking of a sentence! I could even use "maybe I had better write a poem instead" as my sentence. And maybe I will. See? It's that easy!

I like your other starters as well. Thanks so much for them!

xo!
